When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and authentication details. When you bid, donate, or purchase tickets, we collect transaction details and, where needed, payment information that is processed directly by Stripe (we never store full card numbers).
We use your information to operate the platform — to register you for events, record your bids and purchases, process payments, send event and outbid notifications, and generate tax receipts. Organizers may also use your contact details to communicate about their event, subject to your opt-in preferences.
You can opt in or out of marketing and offer communications (such as second-chance offers and nudges) when you register as a bidder. System notifications required to operate an auction (for example outbid and winner alerts) are sent regardless of this preference.
We share data with the organizer of any event you participate in so they can run their auction and fulfill items. We share payment data with Stripe as needed to process transactions. We do not sell your personal information.
We retain your account and transaction records for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal or record-keeping obligations. Organizers may export their event data; you may request deletion of your account subject to outstanding transaction records.
We use row-level access controls so each organizer only sees their own event data, and each bidder only sees their own bids, tickets, and donations. Payment processing is encrypted and handled by Stripe. No system is perfectly secure, but we apply industry-standard safeguards.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to opt out of certain communications. Contact the hosting organization or Bid Storm support to exercise these rights.
Bid Storm is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. School auctions are run by adult organizers who are responsible for obtaining any required parental consents.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will reflect the date of the latest update at the top of this page.
